Getting Voicemail Messages by Phone

You can access your e-mail and your voicemail by phone.

You'll know you have new voicemail messages when you dial the AOL® Voicemail access number (1-800-AOL-1234) and hear "You've got voicemail." If you're using your registered phone, simply dial your registered phone number to check for messages.

Some users will receive the Message Waiting Indicator (MWI) phone feature with AOL Voicemail. If you have MWI and have a message:

To get messages when calling from your registered phone:

  1. Dial your registered phone number.
  2. Follow the prompts for easy retrieval.

To get messages on the go:

  1. Dial 1-800-265-1234 (1-800-AOL-1234).
  2. Follow the prompts for easy retrieval.

Tips:

Log in Faster With Quick Login and Bypass PIN

When you call 1-800-AOL-1234 and you're not at home you'll be asked to enter your registered phone number and PIN. If you call to check your voicemail messages frequently from a particular phone (e.g. your mobile phone or work phone), make it a Quick Login number. As long as the system can read the Caller ID from that phone, you won't need to enter your registered number. You can also bypass the PIN step, by choosing that option on the Quick Login set-up page on your AOL Voicemail dashboard. Note: your PIN provides e-mail security, so only set up the bypass PIN feature on phones that are solely within your control.

To add or delete an Express Number:

  1. Go to your Dashboard.
  2. Click "Settings" and then click "Express Numbers".
  3. Enter the phone number(s) and a short description.
  4. Click "Save".

Saving Voicemail Messages

You can save 100 new messages and 100 old messages. Messages will be saved for 30 days. If you want to save a message permanently, download the message attachment from your e-mail and save it to your computer.
